The material alpharim is a variety of cast nylon, often also written as PA Cast, PA6C or nylon type 6. alpharim polymers GmbH produces out of this modified PA6 block copolymer semi-finished products (sheets and rods) and also finished products.
Cast Nylon polyamides is a high molecular and high crystalline polymer. Nylon Type 6 semi-finished and finished products are produced in a special casting process, where the raw material Caprolactam is polymerized in a controlled chemical reaction.
For the production of finished and semi-finished PA cast we use the NYRIM product.
By adding an elastomer on a variable basis, the production of a tailored made material for a wide field of application is possible.
Compared to extruded Nylon, the casted PA6 shows a higher degree of crystallisation and better characteristics for machining.
With our own RIM (Reaction Injection Moulding) procedure we can produce modified Cast Nylon polyamides, or PA6C or PA6G up to a weight of 35 kilos.
Polyamid finished parts
Polyamid finished parts are cut and milled with conventional machines and tools out of our plates and rods. We recommend carbid tipped tools.
The formation of the cuttings changes with increasing the machining thickness. The formation goes from ribbon cuttings with smooth run-off to very irregular and awkward brittle cuttings, with unfavourable cutting surface finish, if the machining thickness is too much.
